Roger Hansford holds a PhD in Musicology (2014) from the University of Southampton. His current scholarly interests revolve around musical and literary romanticism, particularly music in nineteenth-century Britain, and he researches British social and cultural history of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. He has taught on university music history courses and delivered research papers at conferences throughout the UK. His doctoral research was funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council, and he was awarded the Stephen Copley Research Award in 2020 by the British Association for Romantic Studies. He is a published author with Routledge and Oxford University Press. As well as being an academic reviewer and editor, he is a qualified school-teacher, a church musician, and a choral accompanist. He enjoys co-ordinating and developing adults to deliver public music performances and/or musical education. He also teaches young musicians aged 11-18 and is an advocate for music education, holding a strong interest in cognition and learning.
