I am currently a Pharmacovigilance Scientist/ Drug Safety Associate in Parexel International, Chandigarh, India. I want to stress that I have theoretical and practical experience with Molecular Genetic Epidemiology advanced in finding new promoter mutations and further evaluating their role with disease and haplotype analysis using Insilco and practical approaches. My research as a PhD scholar is highly concentrated on the epidemiology of virus-host interactions in which I have focused on HBV infection, its molecular mechanism, non-synonymous polymorphisms associated with higher prevalence of HBV infection in North Indian Population, which is about half of the total population of India. Thus so far, the research findings are very enlightening, especially in terms of the HBV virus infection susceptibility in adults. As suspected, the research confirmed that adults carrying a particular single nucleotide polymorphisms present in ULK1 gene are highly inclined to get infected with HBV infection and also are more prone to be shifted from initial acute infection to more severe cirrhosis and Liver cancer group. Along with my PhD research I have also completed a highly thought-provoking project entitled ‘Identification of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in the Transcriptional Regulatory Region of Autophagy Gene, ULK1 and their Role in Susceptibility to Chronic Hepatitis B Virus Infection’, sanctioned by Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. In which I have identified new novel SNPs in the promoter region of ULK1 gene, and are looking forward to submit these SNPs in NCBI-dbSNP. These polymorphisms play a major role in transcriptional regulation of the ULK1 gene, thus further regulating autophagy and HBV interaction. In my masters, my major project was focused on the prevalence of Hepatitis b Virus resistant and susceptible genotypes of apolipoprotein e (Apo-e) gene in healthy people of North India, and hence found quite interesting results in the end which are later published. I have also worked in multiple projects in my masters and further published the results. I have published a total of three research articles in masters and four in PhD, while 5 more are in the row to get published. In addition to my academic achievements, I have experience in bioinformatics resources and tools for in-silico drug designing. Also have completed training in Insilco drug designing methods, software’s and resources for Parkinson’s Disease and GLP in India – Present and Future’. I was university rank holder during my Masters in Medical Biotechnology.
