As a dynamic and highly experienced Molecular Research Scientist, I bring over 10 years of expertise in molecular biology, genetics, and neuroscience. My research experience is grounded in using invivo and invitro models to investigate neurodegenerative diseases, particularly focusing on the gut-brain axis, aging, and the role of LRRK2 in Parkinson's disease. I have honed my skills in genetic manipulation, microscopy, and high-throughput screening, particularly in imaging and dissection techniques. My career includes postdoctoral research at the University of Bordeaux, where I led independent projects, securing funding and driving interdisciplinary collaborations. I hold a PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of Glasgow, where I explored genetic loci responsible for metabolic disorders affecting the renal tract. My research at Bordeaux Neurocampus examined the molecular mechanisms behind neurodegeneration, emphasizing protein quality control in synaptic compartments. I utilized cutting-edge imaging technologies to visualize synaptic malfunction and uncovered critical genetic and molecular pathways driving synaptopathies. Furthermore, I explored the role of the LRRK2 gene in immune responses within the gut and its connection to Parkinson's disease progression. I also worked as a visiting researcher at Mayo Clinic, studying ion transport mechanisms to understand kidney disease physiology. This was complemented by my earlier work as an early-stage researcher at the University of Glasgow, where I focused on kidney stone disease using advanced molecular genetics approaches. I currently work as a freelance molecular research scientist, offering services such as experimental design, data analysis, and clinical research. I am skilled in a wide array of laboratory techniques, including qRT-PCR, RNA-seq, immunohistochemistry, protein assays (Western blotting, IP, Co-IP), and microscopy (confocal, fluorescence, and electron microscopy). My work with bioinformatics tools such as NGS analysis, pathway mapping, and integrative systems biology has enhanced my capacity to analyze complex datasets and uncover meaningful insights. In addition to my hands-on research skills, I have a proven record in scientific communication, having published 19 peer-reviewed articles and presented my work at numerous international conferences. My supervisory experience spans overseeing PhD, Master’s, and undergraduate students in experimental projects, and I have extensive experience in teaching and mentoring in developmental biology. I am a skilled collaborator and communicator, having worked in diverse international teams across academic, clinical, and industrial settings.
