I'm an environmental microbiologist with diverse experience, having held industry, research and academic positions since 2003. I've worked previously in the biotech/startup area and before that I was an academic, a college professor conducting research in environmental bacteriophages and biocontrol. I have experience writing and securing a range of grants types, including NSF and government grants. Before this I was employed as a postdoctoral researcher, studying environmental phage populations, cyanobacteria and freshwater bacteria. My Ph.D examined microbial populations performing biological nutrient removal in package wastewater treatment systems. I have extensive experience teaching college-level biology, as well as experience in leading educational perspectives on mental health advocacy in academia and STEM.
