Currently working on a project which involves the analysis and sequencing of swine microbiome and identifying any trends between the species present and the overall health and wellbeing of the piglet. Previously spent a year employed by a lab that focused on the use of microbiology techniques to isolate small molecules produced by bacteria and determine their potential use as antibiotics against antibiotic-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus. In addition to that, I was employed by a lab who's focus was studying the chromatin regulatory pathways of the Herpes Simplex Virus. I hold a Masters degree from the University of Saskatchewan where I conducted a project on enzyme crystallography and kinetics. The work from said project allowed me to publish a paper regarding a novel inhibition mechanism for the highly conserved and constitutively active enzyme GSK3Beta with binding partner DISC1 and their relation to psychiatric illness. I am highly read in the microbiology, biochemistry and virology.
