Technical skills: I have full expertise in handling following instruments and analyze results: • Microscopy (TEM, SEM, Optical) and Image Analysis • Twin jet polisher and focus ion bean milling for TEM sample preparation • Optical Emission Spectrometer (Chemical Analysis) • Thermal Electrical Resistivity • Thermal Conductivity • Differential Scanning Calorimeter • Instron Universal Testing Machine (fatigue (including trampoline test), tensile, and compression) • Hardness Tester (Vickers, Brinell and Rockwell) • High temperature wear testing • Non-destructive inspections (Fluorescent penetrant inspection) • X-ray diffraction Key project completed at Honeywell are: • Development of linear friction welding for shaft wheel assemblies • Development of trampoline test to qualify turbine wheels in lieu of on-engine test • Residual stress mapping in electron beam welded shaft wheel assemblies using neutron diffraction method – in collaboration with ORNL, TN, USA • Evaluate performance of CFC8-Plus alloy for turbine housing applications at temperature above 750C – in collaboration with ORNL, TN, USA • Superior wear resistance material for various AVNT applications such as vane and ring in turbocharger. • High performance compressor wheel from Melt Spun AA8009 • Development of coating in lieu of nitriding for superior wear and corrosion resistance at temperature above 700C and below 300C • Alloy design and optimization using simulation software – JmatPro and Pandat • Studies on fatigue and tensile behavior of Ni base superalloy • Oxidation behavior of turbine stage materials in moisture enriched environment – in collaboration with ORNL, TN, USA • Development of grain refined Ni base super alloy for high stress turbine wheel applications • Fatigue crack propagation study of high Si-Mo ductile cast iron • Equal channel angular extrusion of 2618 Al alloys • Development of Titanium aluminide for turbine wheel application • Optimization of heat treatment using fluidized bed reactors, funded by ACRC consortium members at WPI, MA, USA. Several papers have been published in international journals and conferences. • Fatigue Performance of Fluidized Bed Heat treated Castings, funded by ACRC consortium members at WPI, MA, USA. Several papers have been published in international journals and conferences. • High temperature carburization of steel using Vacuum/plasma, funded by US- DoE at WPI, MA, USA • Development of Al based metal matrix composite through spray forming, funded by National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur, India. Several papers have been published in international journals and conferences and a patent was granted. Consultancy projects • Development of mixed metal powder for making diamond polishing wheel (Thermal spray coating) •• Complexities in forging of Ti (Grade 5) alloy for medical applications (in progress), sponsored by Maharani Medi-Care Pvt.
