I, Dr. Swati Katoch, hold the professional qualification of BDS from Himachal Pradesh University India in the year 2009 followed by Masters of Public Health from PGIMER, Chandigarh in year 2015. I interned with UNICEF, Bihar office, India as a research associate under the guidance of Dr Ghanashyam Sethy in a project conducting evaluation of Reproductive and child health services under NRHM in collaboration with AIIMS Patna. Bihar, being a hub of public health, provided amass opportunities of new avenues and learning during our assigned work period. I was able to enhance my research and technical proficiencies during that period which included on field data collection, planning and management, research and data analysis, supportive supervision, monitoring and evaluation, report writing followed by submission of final report pertaining to RMNCH+A data in 24 blocks of Gaya district to UNICEF office. Further, we also aided in drafting of state PIPs and conducting workshops on IAPPD and AES organised by UNICEF office, Bihar. Further, after this short stint, I worked with PHFI under guidance of Dr. Sutapa in collaboration with UNICEF in Bihar as a regional coordinator in a project on India New Born Action Plan (INAP). The salient features of that project included launch and roll out of INAP in Bihar in key districts Gaya and Purnea. In late 2015, I shifted to PGIMER, my alma mater, as I wanted to pursue PhD. While preparing for it, I worked as a research assistant under the guidance of Dr. Shankar Prinja in a project evaluating national highway accident relief scheme and cashless scheme of health insurance for road accident victims in collaboration with WHO and George institute, Australia. I cleared ICMR fellowship and was eligible for PhD scholarship. However, due to some familial commitments I was unable to join and switched back to dentistry in 2017. Being a keen and avid public health professional, I continued working as a freelance medical writer since then. I have aided support in implementation research to Dr Ghanashyam Sethy, currently based in UNICEF, Malawi as a community health lead in introduction of non- pneumatic anti- shock garment (NASG) for presentation and management of PPH and introduction of hypothermia alert device for early diagnosis and prompt referral of neonatal hypothermia cases. I have also contributed as a freelancer writing expertise by writing 17 manuscripts and 5 proposals for third party client in alchemist research and data analysis led by epidemiologist Dr. Mamta Gupta(BDS, MPH, PhD- PGIMER) in Chandigarh. I have a publication in Plos One and two upcoming publications in IJMR and JCEH as discussed in details in my CV. My language proficiency is excellent in English and good in Hindi. I am confident in interpersonal communication skills, a hard working team player with remarkable writing and speaking skills. I have attended several conferences and workshops and opted for voluntary field work.
